Colour Managing Gadget

Hello all.

A few days ago, a friend of mine asked if she could have some of my prints for her house, I was rather chuffed to say the least! I printed one of my shots for her, which on screen looked ok, the levels looked fine and I was happy with it. However, when I printed is using Photoshop it was distinctly darker.

I used an .icc profile in Photoshop for my printer/paper and disabled colour management in the printer driver but couldnt get the right result.

What I'm wondering is, does anyone have one of those Spyder 2 gadgets and do you think they are worth investing in? I've toyed with the idea for a while but £140 is a lot of money!

As far as I've read, having no physical experience, good for fine adjustments but wont sort the basic light/dark issue. You need to get your monitor gamma right for that, it's not too complicated a process and is well explained elsewhere on the forum if you search.this is a good tutorial and there are plenty of others out there if you look. Sorry I can't be of more help but it's very subjective.
