Compact Flash Card Failures
I think this thread will be a lost cause for me but I will describe my problem with one of my CF cards, a Delkin eFilm PRO.
Yesterday I conviced my daughter to borrow my Canon 350D slr and she used her 70-300mm zoom lens. Up to now she has always used her Canon eos film slr. After taking about 60 shots she was hoping to get 3 or 4 shots to enter in a local photo competition. We were on our way home yesterday and I noticed that on switching on the camera an err CF came up displayed on its lcd. When the card was plugged into the computer card reader the CF drive was not present and it would not recognise the CF card. I have used my SanDisk Rescue Pro software and it still does recognise that the CF card is present in the reader. I gather from my observations that the camera has blown the CF card up for some reason and that there is no I/O communication. Can anyone of you Pixalo experts think of a way to retreive my daughters "Port Folio" please ? Needless to say she is not too impressed with my all electronic kit!!! Re: Compact Flash Card Failures
Sorry I can't offer any help with your problem if the computer/card reader is not seeing the card however I have moved your thread to the right forum section for you in the hope that someone else may be able to

Re: Compact Flash Card Failures
Can't really help either other than to suggest trying in another CF reader. Probably won't work but some readers are better at handling error conditions than others

Re: Compact Flash Card Failures
Did the LCD preview show the images when they were taken?

Re: Compact Flash Card Failures
Hi Dabhand, Yes and on the way home we had another look at some whilst zooming in they were ok. A couple more shots were taken and the camera switched off because by now the battery was showing only one quarter segment.
The Camera on powering up again displayed err CF on the upper mono lcd and no image on the large lcd. I hope this helps Regards Brian |

Re: Compact Flash Card Failures
Just an update on this duff Delkin Pro CF card. Canon have replied twice and suggested that the card may have been damaged by the 350D and to get it checked out at a Canon UKs agent. Not sure of the cost of this checkup though. Delkin have offered to replace the CF card for free under their terms of a life time warranty. Considering the card is 4 years old I think this is excellent service. Trying to recover pictures from blown I/O ports on a CF card is not cost effective.
I will leave the 350D checkup (its out of warranty) unless it shafts another card because at this stage no one can be sure where the problem lies. Brian. |
