Craziness of prices on EBAY

Missed the bargain of the week on EBAY just now, by spending too long on here

Had been tracking a Nikon 70-210mm D lens for days & had the page up ready to bid. Missed it by 1 minute & it went for £82 !!!! Normally they go for £270 plus.

Just shows if you keep an eye out you can get a bargain . Actually over next week it might be a good time to bid, as so many people will be tied up with this Xmas thingy

its interesting, you watch something for 5 days, it creeps up £2, then it jumps £50 in the last 2 mins...everything does that, except what I'M selling

I always crawl the completed listing for similar items that I want to sell & then basically copy best bits of highest sellers, including sale category. Also ensure auction ends on an evening or weekend when maximum audience available. Going the extra mile for providing info (tho not too much) seesm to pay off. I had a 20 year old tape deck by Nakamichi that I trawled the net for a decent review of. Found it, included it & sold for £350 Have similar experiences with other gear........you just need to put your salesman hat on

I used to believe in the evening/weekend finish too but have recently been selling stuff that finishes during work time and it seems to go just as well. Lots of people on the net during the day instead of working

Craziness of prices on EBAY .....

your not kidding

Ive been keeping a watchful eye on 350d's and 17-85MM IS USM lenses.

they reach daft money for second hand. In some cases, VERY close to best UK New prices, through pricerunner.com

And new Items are not even close to being competative, closer to extortionate!

I dont _really_ want to spend the money right now, other things looming, so DSLR will be on back burner once more.

I entered a maximum bid of £200 on an EF 28-135 IS.
Then the Mrs caught me out and banned me from Ebay.
It went for £205

As you may recall I am in the process of ending my business. We cleared a part of the stores racks (as in binned the stock). I looked at the racks and thought they were not too bad so I took a picture of them and listed them on ebay.

If someone had put their head through the door and said ' I'll give you £50 for that' we would have taken it. I listed the lot for £10 start buyer collects. After a day it had gone to £70.... we were amazed.
After a couple of days it had risen to £270. Rubbed hands and assumed it had been bid to its limit early. It ended today - two people had a little bidding war and with 1 minute to go it was up to £470

Then it was sniped by a new bidder with 10 seconds to go for.....

£600

Now thats what I call a bargain
