cs5 problem

Hi, I have put a picture on Photoshop cs5 and the picture came up ok the out side, (the surrounding on there is always white) I clicked on some thing and made a mistake and got distracted, the surroundings turned black and I cannot get the white surrounding back, its nothing to do with the picture that's ok, its the way it comes up black on the out side of the picture. Hope you can understand what im saying.

Re: cs5 problem

If you right-click on the background you should be able to reset the colour.

Re: cs5 problem

Try pressing CTRL+J or dragging the layer onto the new layer icon at the bottom of the layers palette.

Have you got the layer selected?

Re: cs5 problem

You have opened up the "Layers Palette" haven't you? It is one of the icons on the right-hand side of the screen which looks like a couple of sheets of paper.

There are several ways to duplicate a layer and I suspect that you have done this by using the Layers menu at the top of the screen. If this is what you have done you wont see any change in the image as the duplicate layer is identical the original layer. This is why you need to open the Layers Palette which will show both layers.
