I read an article that showed an increase in noise when D-lighting was used so that put me off. That was on the original technology though, so it might have improved since.

I've never used it but the advice also is not to use it too much either because of the noise.

I think it's there for PJs who need a JPG straight out of the camera to send. D-Lighting sacrifices image quality for higher dynamic range which will wil increase the number of keepers if noise is not such an issue.
