D200 CF card probs

Hey guys,

I've got a couple of SanDisk Ultra II 2GB cards and they work fine. However I have just got a 4GB version through the post and my D200 won't format it. It just keeps flashing the 'FOR' on the LCD, no matter how many times i try the format it still shows.

Are there compatability issues with the 4GB version and my body? Or do you think its just a duff card?

Would be good to hear from those with a D200

Re: D200 CF card probs

I used 4GB with no problems on D200. Did you buy from reliable source, as there are a lot of fakes out there in EBAY land ?

Re: D200 CF card probs

As Dave says, there should be no problem with 4GB cards, or even larger. It sounds like a duff card - where did you buy it?

Re: D200 CF card probs

I'm using 4GB Extreme III with my D300 with no problems. Also just put a 4GB card in my D70s and that formatted OK too.

Re: D200 CF card probs

I got it from the same place I bought my 2GB which works fine, yes it was from Ebay and the seller is happy to give me a refund, but he said the 4GB may not be compatible with my D200.

I guess as you say it may be a duff card

Re: D200 CF card probs

Do you know anyone else with a camera that takes CF cards that you could try formatting the card in?

Or try formatting it in your computer? - I know they say to format in camera, but just to check the card.

Re: D200 CF card probs

Try registering the card on the sandisk web site. That is often a clue if it is fake.

I would ring Sandisk and check if its genuine or not. For the cost of the phone call it will tell you how to proceed
