Digitalrev - Mack warranty not as good as International Warranty ?

Was looking at the prices for Nikon 80-400mm lens & found Digitalrev were doing the lens for £753 incl P&P & no tax. Knowing OneStop try to beat others prices & were at £789 I emailed them accordingly.

The response I got was they could not match the price as they offered the Nikon International warranty, where as Digitalrev only offered Mack warranty, which I am led to believe means sending any repairs to 3rd party , with poor feedback from some buyers.

One to be aware of when buying from Hong Kong

Re: Digitalrev - Mack warranty not as good as International Warranty ?

My impression of the Mack guarantees (and have no personal experience but have done some reading) is that you can choose where to send your equipment for repair and in the Case of Canon equipment that includes official Canon repair centres too. Now I don't know if Nikon only repair their own equipment and thus won't repair it under the Mack guarantees but I would have thought it wouldn't make any difference to them as long as they get paid?

It Maybe worth a call to Nikon if you are seriously considering buying?

One other question, are Nikon lenses not supplied with an international guarantee as standard...meaning the Mack Guarantee is worthless unless you are looking to extend the cover period?

Yes - except if u buy from the USA - those are us only warranties.

At least that's my understanding.

Thats a bit tricky of Nikon...I always assumed (like with Canon) that all their lenses were guaranteed for repair in any country regardless of where they were purchased
