DSLR Size ratios

I got a 300D last week, and took quite a lot of pics since, but with exams and revision I haven't got round to editing/posting any on my site.
When I just loaded them into PS to resize, I realised the photos are all at a 3:2 ratio, like film cameras, as oppose to the 4:3 ratio of digitals that I've had before. Is there some setting I've missed somewhere that can put it in this ratio, or is this just another difference with DSLRs compared to compacts?

Image editing O.K.

You can't do that unfortunately without deforming your pics or cropping. Slightly annoying if you like to view your shots full screen without a black bar top and bottom.
