Hello all:

Does anyone one here use Capture NX?
If so, do you know if it's possible to correct vignette using the affore mentioned?

Thanks in advance.

If you shoot in RAW, yes.

Re: Dumb newbie question.

Yup there's a vignette correction tool if you're shooting RAW, not sure about otherwise.

Re: Dumb newbie question.

That's probably why I can't see the option when viewing canon jpegs.

Thanks.

Re: Dumb newbie question.

Can I enquire as to why you are using Capture NX for editing Canon files?

Re: Dumb newbie question.

Actually I just realised from reading the release notes that from 1.3 you can use the vignette control on jpg's and tif's too. As I always shoot in RAW (not in "the raw" ) I didn't realise it could be used on those formats too from 1.3. The question about the Canon files being edited in Capture NX is a good one though.

Re: Dumb newbie question.

Soupy likes Capture NX but has a, er, well, somewhat peripatetic attitude towards camera ownership.

Re: Dumb newbie question.

lol as in 'constantly moving from one to another'? No wonder he's ended up confoozed.

Just to clarify too - even though Capture NX supports vignette control in jpgs and tifs, it's only for those created in Nikon dSLR's, or created from a NEF from within Capture NX. So those Canon ones aint gonna work, no way never.

Re: Dumb newbie question.

What about a more convolute option?

What if I save a jpeg as a nef through NX and then re-open it.

This is a waste of a post really because I'll try it when I get home anyway.
