Here I am again to ask another stupid question, I have a lot of photos that I have taken over the last year or so that I have downloaded onto every external hard drive I have {3}plus they are also loaded onto CD's and DVD's as well as on my main PC hard drive. The problem I have is that I now have duplicates of duplicates on all back ups and also on the main hard drive, my question is do they do a software program that will detect these duplicates so I can then erase them allowing me to just have ONE MASTER set of pictures that I can then re back to all my systems.

SyncbackSE will do everything you ask, its not free but very cheap and highly recommended.

If you do not wish to pay for it they also do a 30 day trial which is fully functional and will allow what you need to do initially. I would bet that if you download and give it a try you'll end up paying the small amount to keep it working though...it really is a great program.

Told you it was a stupid question. Looking at the download on my PC and just seeing a - I thought that section was closed
Thanks For the info though, I will try to be a bit brighter in the brain dept when I come back from my holidays and hope that I will check ALL items on here prior to asking questions
At the moment I think I would try the free trial to get me started but know I will end up buying it as I do belive that with the amount of times I back up files it will more than pay for itself in a few months

As I have just posted I will TRY to use a bit of COMMON SENSE in future whatever my problem is and read EVERY post on Pixalo Prior to asking questions in future Please just put it down to my OLD AGE and lack of forthought, I should have understood that {On this site} the members have more than likely thought of MOST questions that will be asked and have put the answers on here somewhere

Why take the easy route and look a fool when I can use the other way {it may take longer but I will get there in the end}
Still not doing bad so far, have downloaded the software and have maanaged to read 22 posts {understood 19 of them} so give it 10 years or so I should have read most, then I will get a list of questions sorted that have NOT been asked

Hi Dabhand
I will do that, I was thinking along those lines anyway, as has been stated many times that is what this is all about giving and recieving help where we can. Only one more question when I report back on it should I do it in that section orin the PC section??
