Re: Equipment insurance
I did see them but some years ago they used to have a really bad rep for not paying out with horse insurance, maybe they have got better

Re: Equipment insurance
I've never had to claim so I can't recoomend them on any other basis other than the policy but in terms of rates against what is covered I can recommend Glover and Howe.
No slick on line cover but they do offer up to three years NCD and a lot of things as standard that others charge extra for. I ignored E&L as I had heard some horror stories and they only offer new for old for stuff less than one year old. |

Re: Equipment insurance
I use Morgan Richardson for my insurance. It is not cheap at around £300 a year but it covers £10,000 worth of equipment (including in water use), it has employers liability built in (which was handy as it covered me when I had work experience students with me earlier this year) and it has overseas cover.
If you really need business cover I think they could be worthy of consideration. Re settling of claims I am pleased to say that I have no experience of this to date - largely due to when I slipped on the rocks I pull the tripod over with the 600 lens but managed to land on my back with the lens across my chest!! |

Re: Equipment insurance
E&L are useless, when I had to claim I had to produce 2 quotes from repairers to say it was not financially viable to repair which they charge for and send off the original invoice which was with my accountant and it took them about 3 weeks to sort it out before they sent me a cheque with depreciation taken off the insured sum of money,

Re: Equipment insurance
Havent changed then, Still might look into this photogaurd it gives quite a lot, for 4k insurance plus indemnity and TP for £10 a month seems good. might look in the mags for adverts.

I was about to call photogaurd when i googled them and found a very worrying thread on photographers.co.uk. Basically it makes them look exceptionally unprofessional not mentioning they replied on an open public forum with a very questionable response. It isnt the fact that someone complained about their service is is thier response that I am flagging. If anyone wants the link PM me, I am just stating fact on what I have found but it is non the less quite a worrying find. |
