Experimenting with HDR

Hi
I posted up a pic tonight of a mini orchid after watching a You tube video about depth of field (jolly good too . This was taken using my EFS 18-55 lens. I shot it in HDR, F4 , three separate exposures and produced it in Photoshop Elements.
Now, when I tried to replicate it with the new 50 mm lens, the three exposure attempt at HDR did not produce three distinct images. Was I doing something wrong with the 50mm settings - F2.8, or was HDR not necessary? Attached is the 50mm shot.
Seriously Besotted,
Nellie

Re: Experimenting with HDR

Looking at the 50mm shot online,I really prefer the first one of the orchid - much more clarity in every way - so I suppose I am looking for advice on using the 50mm to the max

Re: Experimenting with HDR

ok, im a bit confused, ( or it may be just too early), could you explain what u mean when you say you shot it in HDR, and what u mean when u say 3 distinct images.
you need a minimum of 3 exposures to produce an HDR image, but you dont have to shoot them they could be produced from one exposure with some changes in raw to each of them,..
If you shot three exposures for HDR conversion then you would still have three exposures............ so not sure what u mean like i said tho its early and the brain hasnt quite kicked in yet.

Re: Experimenting with HDR

Morning!
I took three different exposures in RAW on the standard lens - no problem. When I switched to the 50mm and attempted the same - 2, 0 , +2, there was no discernible difference in the three exposures - where did I go wrong with the 50mm?

Re: Experimenting with HDR

It must be something to do with your camera settings rather than the lens used. It doesn't matter what lens you use for HDR (in as much as all will work). Its easy to do so I think you have probably just made a simple camera settings mistake somewhere.

What shooting mode where you using?
