Re: Favour for favour, Help

I'd say your 18-70 would do just fine (presume you are going to have reasonable space) as wider than that will probably give distortion issues.

You might be able to use window light for the single shots if you can get them close to a window. Diffusing the flash will give softer light - bouncing from the ceiling or a wall might be an option - and if you can, take a reflector. I often use a single flash off camera and bounced from somewhere to the side of the subjects, ceiling or wall.

Don't forget you could use a tripod to enable quite slow shutter speeds as people will be able to be still for around a second or two, so available light might be another option, but don't forget to adjust your white balance.

A combination of available light and flash shots will cover you either way.

Re: Favour for favour, Help

After looking over your gear, I was thinking that even people with a lens of f/2.8 can have lots of trouble in dark lighting and a mix of lights here and their. Sorry to hear you had a slip up, but we know you'll bounce back after you tell us all about it, if you can stand too. I've had some real bad indoor shooting sessions. I did better when I learned to use my flash and turn it down to a lower flash. I my self don't like flash and feel it needs to creep in from the side softly and I have lived like that. My new camera dosen't even have a flash and I don't care. For me and myself I take a few shots ahead of time, using the hot shoe flash or only going for places that light has given me a good picture ahead of time....I think you did all the right things just not all of them. Better luck next time cause it will happen.
