Smile Film for Landscapes

Im taking an old film camera too iceland soon, but need to buy film for it. Does it pay to buy expensive well branded film like kodak or can you get the same results with cheaper 'own brand' film??
Thanks

Re: Film for Landscapes

For colour print film I always thought that Konica was good value. You can get good prices by buying in bulk - packs of 10 or 12 will bring the price down for whatever film you choose.

Re: Film for Landscapes

Cheaper own brand film used to mostly be made by the big name compannies but was often last generation technology. R&D in print film is very expensive and profit margins are very low so, it was always the case, that manufacturers other than Fuji and Kodak were a few years behind. But these days I don't know if there is any last generation technology. I can say from my experience avoid Agfa colour print film like the plague and generally I would never bother with ISO 200 from any manufacturer as it's neither fish nor foul.

Fuji is usually associated with landscapes and Fuji Reala is probably the current landscape choice for print but will not be as cheap.

If you're willing to give slide a go, you could try Fuji Velvia. Gives stunning colours for Landscapes.

Re: Film for Landscapes

Film, what the heck is that? Kodachrome if still available is the best. Fuji Velvia is great if you get the exposure right (not so good for push/pull processing), Fuji Provia pretty good. Color neg, anything with modern technology and a good scanner.
