Filter Advice

I am about to buy myself a range of filters.

I will probably get a couple of full ND filters get a kit of graduated ones.

I will use them primarily for landscape shots to begin with, but I would like to try some water photo photos with ND filters.

My question to the knowledgeable is what should I consider before choosing either the 'soft cut' or 'hard cut' graduated type?

Re: Filter Advice

Generally speaking the soft transition is for wide angle/standard lenses and the hard transition is for telephoto lenses.

I think that you are far more likely to want to use a grad with a standard or wide angle lens, so the soft transition would be better.

There are lots of filters to choose from, and, as always, the best are not cheap. I've got a set of SRB-Griturn grads that are in fact Hi-Tech and offer good value.

You advised me before about the SRB-Griturn ones and I am going to go with your recommendation.

Thanks again.
