Folder Syncing?
O.k i have a large archive of images and at the moment i have them stored in 3 different places, and until now i have been doing it all by copying each file into each respective folder (3 times over for each archive). Is there a good reliable piece of software that can sync a folder with another? I use a programme called Transmit to ftp stuff via the internet, and it is the perfect syncing programme however it won't sync a local folder with another local folder only one on the web.
Some more info.... I use a Mac running OS X 10.4.8 Cheers for any info in advance! |

Re: Folder Syncing?
You don't say if you want to do this in bulk or individually. If one at a time, I wonder if you can write a PS action to do the three saves?
If not, maybe a macro will do the job? |

Re: Folder Syncing?
Sorry, should have said... I'd like it to do it in bulk, but i don't want to save it at the same time as i do in Photoshop, as i save from PS into one folder then i archive it after sending it out to it's relevant market place. I would like to archive it only once into one folder then when i run the software i'd like it to realise that the main archive has changed and update the other 2 archives accordingly.
I hope this makes sense. |

Re: Folder Syncing?
Right, that knocks out my idea then. I don't know if this info is relevent or not, but when my now elderly computer was built, I wanted a zip drive (remember them?) to do my backups. The software that came with it had a setting to 'backup only files/folders that had been changed since the last back-up'. This would then retain the existing stuff that had not been updated, but would save the ones that had.
Would this be more what you need? |

Re: Folder Syncing?
Yeah that sounds about right, I do remember zip drives, i used to have one to carry pics around. They were great you cold get a whole 100mb of data on one, and the old Macs G3's etc used to have a zip drive built in, which is a little better than your typical PC's 1.4Mb of floppy that was built in.

Re: Folder Syncing?
My one is 750mb. Seemed a lot at the time. Perhaps you could explore some backup software that might suit you. I bet there is some free/shareware out there that will do it.
