Free Screen capture software

I was looking at Snag-It, a bit of software for saving screenshots from anywhere on the screen but then I saw a link to a free site called 'King Kong Capture.' I went and had a nosey and low and behold I got the software completely free and it works every bit as good as Snag-it without paying a penny. You can even hand draw around a selection on the screen and it will save just that so not just whole screens, windows or rectangles.

Link below for details

Cheers,
Rob

I use Wisdom-Soft ScreenHunter. It is free!! Extremely easy to use and it can capture full-screen or you can select any part of the screen you want to capture. Here is a link:

I use an older version of PaintShop Pro (v 7.02). I sometimes use PSP for photo editing as well, as it sometimes does things more simply than in Photoshop CS2.

Mostly every editing program has a way of capturing screen shots PSP,PS, etc, so you might have and not know it

Re: Free Screen capture software

I'll add FastStone Screen Capture to the list if only for it's ability to capture scrolling windows in their entirety.

Thats a good point and to my mind what sets some of the specific screen capture programs apart from the method of using Photoshop or Paint. Its fine doing a screen grab but if you need to capture the whole page (including the bit off screen that you would have to scroll to see) then its not going to work without a specialist program.
