There are days I really love my missus...
![]() After contacting a Canon repair centre I discovered that it was going to cost £165 plus shipping for a fixed price repair to my 10D. Faced with the prospect of shelling out almost £200 on a camera body that only cost me that much in the first place (second hand of course) I was wandering around the house feeling suitably sorry for myself. My dear wife insisted that rather than spend more money on repairing an old camera I should just go out and buy myself a new one. After reluctantly allowing myself to be persuaded I placed an order for a brand new EOS 40D which I expect to be picking up later today!! I think I had better start planning now for the next wedding anniversary, birthday, next year's valentines day and so on. I have some serious payback to earn! In the interim I get a nice new camera to play with!

Nice one! It's a great camera, hope you enjoy it. Now take your wife out for a nice meal, with flowers and chocolates and a nice bottle of wine

Re: Goodbye 10D...
Haven't had much chance to do anything with it yet, aside from sticking screen protectors onto it, setting the custom functions up, then a quick walk around the garden for a few reference snaps. First thing that struck me was the size of the screen on the back which looks huge after the 10D. It feels rubbery to grip and nice and secure to hold. Most of the rest of the bits are in the same place as on the 10D although the menu system is much closer to my 400D. Did I mention that wonderful big screen on the back? Focussing is spot on, and the speed of the shutter is really quite amazing. Going from the 400D to the 10D felt like a step up but the 40D is just incredible. And then when you want to preview the images there is that huge great screen on the back, or did I already say something about that?
As luck would have it we are on holiday in Wales all next week (not too far from Cardigan) so I should be able to come back with a nice collection of new images and the camera properly bedded in. Colour me one happy camera owner ![]() I really like the screen on the back as well. |
