Has anyone ever used a non manufacturers battery grip.

Has anyone ever used a non manufacturers battery grip.

I've been looking at one for the 5dII but I'm faltering due to the expense on the camera.

As far as I can see there are no electronics in them just buttons and switches.

The cheapest Canon one I can find is £168 from HK off a supplier I've used before.

Cheapest in the UK seems to be around the £250 mark.

I've seen a Phottix on around the £80 mark on fleabay and I'm tempted, but even £80 is a lot to throw away.

I use 3rd party with 30D and 350D (who's names elude me but I can probably find if you need). Both work well

I use a £40.00 third party for my D300 and it works just fine. No problems at all.

Re: Has anyone ever used a non manufacturers battery grip.

Most of my friends use non-canon ones with their 400d's and I would have gone that route had I not found a canon one with two batteries for £60. I've never heard any complaints and after all, it's only a storage device for the batteries with some switches to operate the functions.

Hi Chris, I use one with my 450d and I am really pleased with it. Doesnt look quite as swish as the canon offering but does the job ok.
