hdr?

probaly alot of people ask this. but i looked it up and is this right? all you have to do is shoot on different exposers and then edit it on a editting program?

Basically yes but camera must be on a tripod and use the bracketing function if avalible on your camera I set my d300 and then use a remote and set the shutter release to continous high which then will rapidly take the number of shots in the brkt sequence and then stop I usually shoot off 5 exposures
Some scenes are better than others when shooting HDR, plus if you use the free trail of Photomatix be warned it displays a watermark in the finished project, although you can clone it out. Obviously the full version doesnt, In CS3 the finished effect isnt in my eyes quite as good as Photomatix which i think is about 60 ish

There are also some free programs out there. I tried Picturenaut and quite liked it and qtpfsgui (really that is what they called it) but I didn't like it. The problem with qtpfsgui was that there were too many options, and it wasn't clear how the different algorithms worked.
