Re: Hdr/tone mapping.

Not heard of FDR......for tone mapping I use Photomatix although I do like to use CS3 to do HDR then tonemap.

Re: Hdr/tone mapping.

I have Photomatix and have not tried FDR. If you read Ferrell McColloughs book on HDR he does review several HDR applications including these two. His conclusion is that FDR produces the best results in some cases and Photomatix in others but Photomatix is more versatile. If you are just buying one application then Photomatix would be the best choice but Ferrell suggests that the ideal would be to own FDR and Photomatix and try using each of them for each HDR set. Then choose one or the other or even blend the two as Photomatix almost always produces better skies.

Re: Hdr/tone mapping.

I have FDR tools and find it dosen't line up my hand held shots as good as photomatic or PS. It will do a blend kind of thing and remove the outlines and edges, but that takes alot of time,,,It workks good when using still tripod shots,,,,,. I still have to figure it out and how it works properly. I got good reviews on a shot I posted here once with it and that is a good thing as not many of my pics get a good hdr review because I am bias about what they look like
