Help Needed Quickly Disk Write Protected

Hi just gone to copy some pictures from my harddrive onto an sd card and its telling me

cannot copy imag0490: the disk is write-protected
Remove the write protection or use another disk

Any ideas please these are meant to be going on a digital photo frame as a gift in like the next hour

Dave

Re: Help Needed Quickly Disk Write Protected

There's a tiny white switch on the side of SD cards.

It's a "write protect switch"

Is it just the one image thats giving you a problem. Try right clicking on the image and inspecting the properties...it may show as write protected there in which case you can untick it. If that doesn't work, copy and past that one image somewhere else on your computer and then try copying that version to the SD card.

Good luck

What OS?

Does the SD card have a write-protect tab? (Sorry - don't have these to know.)

Assuming Windows, look in My Computer and check out the properties of the SD card, and the read/write permissions. If there's nothing on it that you need, you could reformat it to restore defaults.

Re: Help Needed Quickly Disk Write Protected

Hi thanks for the super quick replies, i didnt know about that little switch on the side of the sd cards until 5 mins ago

Anyway i have managed to transfer the pictures onto my other harddrive and my other laptop (i know i have 2 of everything) if i place the sd card in my sd card slot on laptop 1 then it copies them but if i place sd card into card reader it will not let me copy them. Panics over for now as ive at least managed to get them onto other laptop then on to sd card

go to go out now but will check back later with hopefully work this one out

Cheers Dave

Re: Help Needed Quickly Disk Write Protected

Hi
Have you "protected" the image in camera ?
Some cameras have this feature to stop images being deleted, etc, If you have you may need to "unprotect" it, in the camera.

Re: Help Needed Quickly Disk Write Protected

This seems to only occur when i copy pictures from my comp or hard drives to an SD card that is plugged in to my card reader, it doesnt happen with cf cards nor does it happen when copying pictures from sd to comp or drives. So im guessing the SD slot on my card reader is knackered

Ahh well cheap enough but didnt half worry me with half an hour to go before delivery time
