Re: How can I say this politely
To be honest, I'd just walk away. The email doesn't sound like the writer will have their mind changed, although actually walking into the shop with your photos is probably the thing to do if you really want to get their attention.

Re: How can I say this politely
Yeah, virgin eyes/ears in this place!
Just remember, always best to grin and bear it unless you truly know that this woman won't screw up your chances for finding work elsewhere. It would really be a shame to tell her off and find out she heads some committee or organization that all of the other bridal shops in your area respect.. bc that would totally destroy any hopes you had of getting work with any of them. |

Re: How can I say this politely
Just do some fabulous shots for her nearest competitor and let them say it all for you. As the old saying goes "a picture is worth a thousand 'swear' words" or something like that.

Re: How can I say this politely
I think I would go as far to volunteer to do a shot at cost or bellow for the nearest competitor. Especially if I had nothing else going on. Just make sure they understand they can not talk about the pricing

Re: How can I say this politely
I don't know if I'd go as far as to shoot free or below cost.. another golden rule is that you NEVER want to establish yourself as that guy/girl that shoots for free or for peanuts. It's darn near impossible to get rid of that label once you've taken it on.
[EDIT]**On a personal note, I guess I took that label on a bit during my concert shots. Before I was trying to make income from this, I didn't have much of an issue giving bands a shot or two, it was cool to see my shots on their website with my name credited. Now it's almost like these guys are insulted if I mention payment for anything, and as such there are a few I haven't heard back from and probably won't ever hear from again. Furthermore, there are others that I'd shot for really cheap, $30 for a night shooting an entire show, that don't seem to comprehend why the price is higher. You'll save yourself countless arguments and explanations if you simply don't do it.** [/EDIT] If your portfolio isn't enough to wow her into hiring you, then politely thank her for her time and move on to the next one. Come back once your portfolio is a bit more impressive. If it's already impressive, then maybe you just have to accept that she's not looking for a photographer. It happens. Of course, that's not to say you shouldn't try again, because she may be looking for one in the future. Polite thanks, leave your card and conctact information, and start working on your next potential employer.
