How to Copyright

I did try the search feature but didn't find how to do this.

How do you copyright a photo?

Re: How to Copyright

You don't. Its already assigned. Basically unless you give permission to use it (either deliberately or by accident) then the copyright of a photo belongs to the photographer who took it.

Enforcing that is another conversation completely though

I hope that helps

Re: How to Copyright

Hummmmmmm? This sounds way to easy.

If someone found a picture they wanted to use how would they get in touch with you?
I guess I thought there was a place like the patent office where you registered your pictures.

Re: How to Copyright

Well that would all depend on where they found the picture. If they find it somewhere like Pixalo they can send you a private message. If its on one of the many image libraries then the image library will have your contact details to pass on or they themselves will handle the deal (it all depends on the contract you agree with the library when you sign up/upload). If you are just putting your images on the web in random places then you can expect more issues, not just with legitimate people trying to contact for usage but also for your to trace any pictures that belong to you but may be being used elsewhere.

That's why having copyright and being able to enforce it are two completely different things
