Re: How long...

About 3 years with Digital, with gap of over 10 years before going back to film & devleloping won shots for about a year in total.

If I put aside any shot of my daughter , then this one is kind of special to me :-

Re: How long...

Apart from the usual snapshots on holiday throughout the years about 2 years as a real hobby, had my Canon 30D for about a year and a half which is when my photography started to take off.

My favourite shot is this one, its pretty much straight out of camera shot in Jpeg with a £120 lens

Re: How long...

I've been into photography for about 20 years but it's only in the last 2 or 3 years that I've started to take it a bit more seriously.

This is my favourite and the shot I'm most proud of having taken!

For quite a few years now but seriously about 5 or 6 years (since digital photography 'matured')

Favourite in my gallery here changes depending on my mood although this one would be up there somewhere..

Re: How long...

Photography has been a hobby for me for 30 years. It is difficult to have a single favourite but this shot is certainly in my top three because I planned the shot and, for a change, got there very early. Also, though I am not shy about manipulating in PS, this is definitely a straight picture with no manipulation.

Very much a Newbie here but learning a lot from the site. Friendly folk here. Photography a hobby for a long time but lapsed for many years. Digital 3 years ago 300D (Rebel). Nicked last year and went for 30D to replace that. (350 too small for me). My favourite?

Smile Re: How long...

I'm pretty new here to so I dont have much in my gallery yet. I have always been interested in photography. When I was younger, I was the family chronicler, then when I use to travel to and from the country town where I did my nurse training, I used to stop and photograph the clouds, then it was party time, I have zillions of party pics then the kids and holidays......
But now, my preferences are for landscape, architecture and macro shots...
I have put my hand up to photograph the cadet end of year parade, my son is the Cadet Under Officer (looks sooooooo handsome in his uniform) so I am searching around here for any tips ....might post about it elsewhere..

Re: How long...

I've always enjoyed taking pictures, but with fairly inconsistant results on film - frustration got the better of me and the film SLR was resigned to a corner untouched for years. My interest rekindled about 6-7 years ago when I was given a digital compact. I changed this for a Canon S1 IS in 2004 and bought my 1st DSLR (Canon 20D) about 18 months ago.

From my Pixalo gallery I would say this is one of my favourites (closely followed by the one of the roses).

I seem to be going through a 'down' time with photography at the moment and don't feel particulary happy with anything I am producing right now. My 'oommfff' has left me for now and my confidence is at a low ebb, but I hope it will return soon!

Re: How long...

I bought my first DSLR in the spring and have being learning through reading, shooting, asking and trying the recommendations of people on this site. They have been a great resource. My gallery is small, but this is a shot that I love from a few weeks ago. My sister-in-law asked me to go outside and take some candids of my darling niece. As soon as I walked off the porch she looked up at me from the dirt of a dead autumn garden. I couldn't resist!

Enjoy the learning curve.

I actually haven't even had my dSLR (D50) for a year yet, only had my FZ7 since last september, so not much more than a year, but I think I've learnt quite a lot.
Really not sure about my favourite shot tbh, but it might be this recent one:

Re: How long...

About 2 1/2 years but never held or shot a camera before this....started with a 4mp P&S for about 8 months then decided to go dslr, frustrating at first but think I am just about getting to grips with it.
I have many favourites but this probably more so as it was the first print I sold....

Re: How long...

Started years ago - was given a Zenit E for Christmas and took B&W film. Slid downhill with colour then auto-everything until was just taking P&S type shots. Turn around came with my Fuji 602Z (which I still own but have lent to an aspiring photographer) on 16 June 2002 (and I still have that 1st shot on my system!)

Fav shot? Why the last one I took of course (or the last semi-decent one!). In this case, taken at the end of last weekend, in mid Wales, when we had an enjoyable time dodging wind and rain to grab some of the local wildlife (Red Kites) and landscapes
