How many images in your photo library?

Having installed the Adobe Lightroom v1. trial today, I let it run through the hard drive that contains all the images I've shot using my D2X bodies since I picked up the first one back in June 2005.

Once it finished indexing all the files, it had found 20,000+ RAW images on the drive... something I wouldn't have known off the top of my head since I place all shoots into their own folders.

Doing some quick math, this equates to me shooting 1 x 36 exposure 35mm spool every day for the last 18 months, which would have been an approximate D&P cost of around £3,836 (factoring £7 for ISO400 film and processing combined)

So - how large is your library and what would your costs in terms of D&P have been?

Well, I'm up to about 25,000 shots in 3 years with my Sigma SD10.

The cost of D&P would probably be about 50p as I probably wouldn't have taken most of the shots, never mind processed!

You're gonna hate me ......I keep hardly anything ....probably 100 RAW files tops

, with about 200 snaphots of daughter & another 100 webshots.....plus what I have loaded on Pixalo

I keep thinking my next shots will be better, so never really keep much

i keep EVERYTHING! I often go back and find a cracker i had missed or one with potential for manipulation etc. although i couldnt tell you how many i have as before i got the external hard drive i had to dump a lot onto disk.........

I really need to go though an delete some images, a lot should have been deleted in the camera let alone keeping them on disk,.

~35000 pics,. mostly jpegs though

I have just deleted 3,000 shots off my hard drive as I have copied them over the external drive, and I thought that was excessive!

I also keep everything, but I only have 31,654 thanks to digital, I keep them in an external 500GB hard drive

Had a chat with a Canon rep a few weeks ago, and she suggested NEVER deleting images in camera from your card. Apparently they have had instances of the card crashing and the photos being irretrievable.

Never has happened to me, although I delete in camera infrequently.

I have just short of 10000 images, with 6000 of those taken in 2006 and 852 in 2007

Took a quick look, might take a few hours to count. Have two types, photo's because I love to take. Then my Family digital library. Mostly Scanned negitives, some 30 years old. Being in my mid 50's it makes sence to say 30 years old, an then have scanned only a third of them. Another thread maybe for this, but hope someday to have them all able to be passed down. My Father passed down video, it only seems right to help out. So many Pictures,,,thousands of them. Ping pang walla walla bing bang
