How much...
Do you think I could get for my Sigma 70-300 APO? I'm just considering whether it's worth putting on sale, to help fund the 80-200 2.8? I mean, it was £179 new, and is in good condition....
Thanks, Jack |

Re: How much...
Check Amazon, a good starting mark for used gear is 60-75% of the current retail cost.
Quick story: I wanted to sell my Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III, put it up at a pretty major discount, and still got low ball offers. Couldn't get what I wanted for it, decided it would serve best as a backup. With a 40D on order, I'm guessing my 75-300 and 18-55 are going to be on my XT while my better glass is on my 40D.. and my fiance and I can both shoot with the same focal length. Of course, if we're not using the same focal length, those lenses won't see the light of day =) Set a price you'd be comfortable with. I don't know the conversion, but in the US on Amazon, your lens is $200. A reasonable price would be $100 to $150, depending on condition. If it's in the pristine condition that I keep my lenses in, I'd say $150 would be a good starting point. Basically 50% to 75% of the current retail price online, depending on the shape the lens is in.

Re: How much...
You could try looking on ebay and seeing if any others are going and for what price. You could always stick it on ebay, set a reserve and see if you get a good price for it.

Re: How much...
I think it's worth £10, and I'll send you a cheque........
![]() Seriously, though, I think Chris has nailed it - if you can get around 70% of the new price I think that is pretty reasonable. |

Re: How much...
I sold mine (Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 APO DG - Canon fit) a year or so ago on Ebay. If I remember correctly I got around £100 for it. I'd had it for about 6 months from new, and it had hardly been used. It was sold with everything it came with - packaging, paperwork etc.
Microglobe are selling at £129 at the moment. Not sure if that helps at all ![]() |
