I started my studio lessons and wanted to know is there any well known theory how to shoot different shaped faces. I mean every person have different face. Some round, some long etc. But if you shoot round face from front it looks round Is there way to play with lights and angles around this?

Yes, you're right! I don't know of any specific rules or guidelines, sorry, but I'm sure different lighting set-ups would produce optimal results for different shaped faces. I think you'd have to search for a book on this specialised topic, and Google is your friend But maybe someone on here will have experimented in this way + be able to give you some tips. It's an interesting question + I look forward to hearing the answer as well

All I can say is that the shape of the face can also be relative to the image orientation and/or the crop you use. A portrait image/crop of a long face will make it seem longer and vice versa for a round face. It's similar to the basic principles of fashion - which clothes will accentuate or nullify a certain body shape.

Also you can alter the shape of a face by the use of shadows. You can make a round face longer by having part of the face unlit. HTH.

Short and broad lighting

short meaning the face side further from the camera gets most light there for makes the subject look thinner, great for rounder faces

broad lighting -opposite, the side of the face that gets the most light is turned towards the cam, but if you use broad lighting on a rounder face you will make them look much fatter so its less common in portraiture.
