Angry I need advice on image quality

Hi, I'm new to this site but I have a very important question. I have been taking photos for quite sometime but am just now trying to get them out there and saleable. Today I took a photo that I captured of a skyline and it was small like 1x2, and I blew it up to 11x17. It looked terrible. Now I am not sure if this has to do with the megapixel I am using or what, i seriously need answers or help with this. What can I do to take the photo so that no matter what size I blow it up to it will come out clear and crisp? Please respond if you can help. Thank You

Re: I need advice on image quality

Hi Mel, welcome along!

The first question is, what camera are you using? Also, on your camera, have you got a setting for the image quality? This usually ranges from small jpeg to RAW. If so, what setting is it currently on?

If you want to post up a photo of the quality feel free.

Posting a photo might help, also telling us what camera/lens, any other relevant gear your using. sorta takes the guesswork out of it for the members you know.

Welcome to the forum by the way

Darn it, if I waited a minute I could have saved myself a typing job

Welcome to Pixalo Mel

As has been said, we need more information and posting the picture on here will help too.

Camera used, file type, and the software you use will enable members to help you.

I've got good prints 20x30 inches from a 6 megapixel camera, so there is no reason why you should not be able to get decent prints.

Its a question that can't be answered without evidence, eg. camera, lens, MP, lighting, running before you can walk, go round to your local gallerie and see some of the work thats for sale find out what other gear photographers use, and yes you can get big blow ups from 6mp cameras providing you are carefull!

Re: I need advice on image quality

Am I right in thinking that up until now you have never printed a picture and only been viewing them on a computer monitor or TV?
