Indoor Photoshoot

Hi all,

Ok, just been asked to do a photoshoot tomorrow. Looking to use the 18-55mm lens, hopefully get some good results witht that. I've been looking at a couple of sites, so far the jist of it is...

Aperture - keep it low f/3.5
Shutter Speed - keep it low again, ~1/30 sec
ISO - ~300-400
White Balance - Tungston or AWB

Tripod
Use natural light where possible

Thinking about playing with RAW, not sure though.

What is the board's ideas and suggestions?

Re: Indoor Photoshoot

What's the photoshoot? It's really that and local conditions that'll determine (in/outside, time, etc)

Re: Indoor Photoshoot

Ok, this is all I know so far. Two parts (possibly), ideally it will be the foremost. Female form at:

1 - Indoors. Bedroom, Clothed then Lingerie/Partial Nude. Looking to use a white sheet to reflect light.
2 - Outdoors. Forrested Area (tree cover), as above.

Timing will be from about lunchtime to mid-afternoon.

Re: Indoor Photoshoot

My advice:
Use RAW and then WB isn't so important (if you get the time then yes, select Custom WB for each setting)
Keep the ISO low to keep noise low
Use a tripod where possible to allow lower shutter speeds
Probably use lens wide open (but dependant on DOF required) - in any case focus on eyes (or eye closest) if shot is head and shoulders
Definitely use available light but be prepared to supplement with fill-in flash or additional lighting
I'm tempted to say beg, borrow, steal (well, maybe not steal!) a prime lens - it'll give you that extra sharpness and more stops
Enjoy it!

Re: Indoor Photoshoot

The photoshoot came off a treat!

I can't show the photos for obvious reasons, but the results are rather good! She started off really nervous, which was expected. Once she'd got into the swing of it (and me too) we seemed to work really well. Did the shoot using RAW, which gave a hell of a lot more choice and chance to edit back at base. Thanks for all the advice!
