Re: Introducing!!!!

Welcome

I cannot help with your question but the phrase "all your egges in one basket" comes to mind. I have always worked on the principle that a few small capacity cards are better than one very large one. Perhaps I am wrong in that.

Re: Introducing!!!!

Keep this in mind.. if you shoot 4GB worth of pictures, you have to sort through and edit 4GB worth of pictures. The only professionals that have an excuse to do the machine gun approach to photography are the people who shoot sports, concerts, and extremely newsworthy stuff who can't afford to miss a specific moment or are looking for that perfect instant that normally isn't possible to capture via your own timing.

Learn how to make each snap of the shutter count. Snapping away typically results in five or six crappy images rather than just one when you do happen to make a mistake. It's also much easier on your gear.

A 4GB card is PLENTY. The only reason you should have multiple CF cards is to ensure that you're covered should one decide to stop working.

Re: Introducing!!!!

Yep, I agree with everything that's been said. I've stuck with 2GB cards so far - don't put too many eggs in one basket.

Regarding Transcend, that brand certainly used to be good and I have a 1GB Transcend CF card that's a few years old and works fine.

Re: Introducing!!!!

Another thing - don't buy cards off eBay, especially Sandisk. Most of them are fakes.

Re: Introducing!!!!

I agree, don't go for the really big cards, otherwise it'll take ages to download a huge card + also you end up with hundreds of photo's (of different shoots/subjects all mixed up together) in one folder - not the best way to manage photo's IMHO. I find 2GB a comfortable size.

I bought one off ebay + the card itself was genuine alright, but the Tomtom software "on" it was not Got a full refund tho' Oh and the card still works (wasn't willing to pay the postage to send it back, after being ripped off by the guy.)

I have actually bought sd cards (for the cards themselves) off ebay + no probs, just stick to sellers you know
