Joined a Monochrome Photography Club

Well folks, I thought for me to move my Monochrome Photography on to the next level, it was time to meet face to face with like minded Photographers.

So last night I turned up at the Cotswold Monochrome Photography Club, on the outskirts of Gloucester. Turned up 5 mins late , but I was made very welcome The night was dedicated to critiquing each others prints. Sitting round in tables of approx 6, a bunch of prints were reviewed & commented on , before being handed to the next table.

The standard of shots were extremely high, with some excellent print quality also.

I was sat with the main comittee members, who were very welcoming, full of humour & made the night a pleasure.

So I decided to join. The club has about 60 members (50/50 approx film/Digital) & from the few I chatted to, plus the work I reviewed, there is obviously a wealth of experience to draw on. The only downside for me with clubs such as these, are you only meet once every 4 weeks. Although this is fine for face 2 face meetings, I feel a bit frustrated I can't pick people's brains until the next meeting. Shows the advantages of online communities such as these........ now if only you could mix the 2.

I'll keep you updated on my visits

Re: Joined a Monochrome Photography Club

i met dave at our meeting last night. as secretary of cotswold monochrome i emailed him to say look out for me. as it turned out i was later then he was! apologies once again!

it is great to have new faces at the club, and as a 'younger' (ish) member of the group i am trying to bring a new enthusiasm and hands on approach to the group.
there is indeed a wealth of talent and expertise, and i am trying to coax the more experienced members into sharing this with beginners like me! in fact there are some nights where i sit and get overwhelmed by some of the images put in front of me!
anyone in the area is very welcome to come along and join in. i would love to have more members, and especially those people who are starting out, it really isn't a club just for those who can!
check out the website for more details if interested.

dave it was really great to meet you last night. i am glad that you enjoyed it, and look forward to seeing you again! unfortunately i am due to speak next month, so it could be the last one you attend!

thanks also for linking me up with this site. i have had a brief look around, but there seems to be some good stuff! maybe i should invest in a scanner to get some posts up!

Re: Joined a Monochrome Photography Club

Hello Rach and welcome to Pixalo

I have been chatting to Dave this morning off the forums about the meeting last night and he does seem vert keen and impressed with the club. Unfortunately it is a little to far for me to travel (even on a monthly basis ) but i hope that you will not be a stranger and that you may share some of your work with us here.

would love to post, but need a scanner first! as i am trying to persuade my other half that he wants to build me a darkroom it may have to wait!

Markulous, keep an eye on the website. if there was a particular evenings program you wanted to come along to, you would be welcome... you never know, it may be worth a once a month drive!

thanks for the welcomes!
