For Ladystardust and anyone else who is interested
okies as promised here is how i do the copy right and the drop shadow......... im not as good as Rob at explaining things so i hope it makes sense...........
what we are going to do is to create a pre-set brush that means we can "stamp" the copyright info onto any image. Create a new Doc, then create a new layer.... hit Shift and U until u get the custom shape tool ( kinda looks like a splodge of something) in the options bar at the top click on the 3rd icon from the left which means u are using pixels and not paths. Hit enter and pick the copyright symbol. set foreground colour to black and drag out the copyright symbol onto your document. then type in the copyright info u want to include and choose the font to suit. select the marque tool and draw a rectangle round your copyright,. then go to Edit > Define brush preset. when the brush name comes up name it what you watn then click ok. this will put your brush at the very bottom of your brush picker presets when selecting the brush option. it will look squashed on the brush table but it will ( or should) be fine when u use it. Drop shadow is simple......... open the picture u want to add it to..... press CTRL and A to select all, then press CTRL and shift and J, this gives u a seperate background under the picture..... select the back ground... go to image > canvas size..... add an inch or so to the size of your canvas remember to do it all the way round not just top or bottom........... then select your image in the layers palette hit the wee button with the funny looking f........ hit drop shadow........ then deselct global light and from the corner of your image drap a tiny shadow out then use the size slider to soften it. and there u have it.. when u add the copyright make sure u add it to the background or it will take on the drop shadow as well. hope this helps Fiona |

Re: For Ladystardust and anyone else who is interested
You've explained that really well so stop being hard on yourself. That will help people a great deal.
I can't do it right now because or this being my last week before exams and I am chocker with work but if you'd like me to, I can create a tutorial using your instructions with screenshots and things in a few days time. Cheers, Rob |

Re: For Ladystardust and anyone else who is interested
That's fantastic Fiona! Thank you so much. I do feel rather guilty as you've obviously spent some considerable time putting this together, but I think it was worth every second. I will try it out this weekend...
Thanks again. Much appreciated.

Re: For Ladystardust and anyone else who is interested
OK - you will have to excuse me here.............I must be incredibly dense. I have followed your instructions - up to the bit "drag out the copyright symbol into your document"
How?? I have the Custom Shapes box up. I click, hold and drag on the copyright one - inot my new document. Nothing happens. PLEASE tell me where I am going wrong? I can't believe how thick I am being...... Thanks, in advance! |

Re: For Ladystardust and anyone else who is interested
OK - I'm really embarassed now
Finally worked out where I was going wrong. The symbol WAS there - I just didn't "stretch" it. DOH!!! |
