Landscapes

why is it, that every damn magazine i buy, deals mainly with landscapes... I'm sick to death of seeing landscapes.
is there no magazine out there willing to break free and do something else.
You get the occasional macro shot, and way to many portraits.

Is any magazine willing to sledgehammer it's way through the norm, are any of them going to deal with anything different??

2 pages of macro, 2 pages on portraits and then some real thoughtful photography would be great...

someone high up, needs to speak to other high up people and make some changes,
an example of rubbish is the latest practical photography... it dealt with 'everything you need to know about flash'...it did? i think it missed the boat, completely.

get some off camera lighting, adrenaline sports, multiple composites, even war photo's, amazing architecture, the million wonders of the world, an AA battery - something!

Re: Landscapes

Ahahahahaha, lol, That is why I stopped buying them years ago. They also have a set theme for each month and then repeat the exact same one the following year. You only ever need to buy 1 years worth.

Re: Landscapes

Its the same in most areas of publishing, mags and books have to be targeted at the mass market to make money.

Once you have gained enough knowledge that you need more than a postage stamp to write it all down on then its time to seek 'expert' advice from good books and workshops/courses and leave the hobby mags behind you.

Re: Landscapes

I'm still learning from them - but I am confused by the vast array of different titles. I suppose if you bought every one for a month or too that would do it for the year....? Any favorites?

Re: Landscapes

Digital Photo if you are learning basic photoshop.
Advanced Photoshop for the better worker.

For the rest I would say that you will find jest as much information on sites like this and EPZ, plus there are so many tech sites that cover most, why buy the mag.

Outdoor is quite good for ideas and locations.

The best I can surgest for the rest is go to WH Smiths look at what is in that months and buy the ones that have what you need.

But if you buy all these mags and add it up, by the end of the year you will find it much better to go to Amazon and by a good book on the subject you want to cover. Much cheaper and lasts so much longer, then when your bored with it, sell it on Ebay.
