Lens caps - this is very interesting.

Was trolling round the internet looking for something this morning and came across this little snippet of useful information

One big and often overlooked advantage is the impossibility of leaving the lens cap on a DSLR camera. The viewfinder is black when the lens cap is in place.
Indeed it is. But what followed was this classic statement

It’s very good to know whether the lens is covered or not when taking photographs.
Sorry, but that really hit the funny bone this morning and had me howling with laughter!

Re: Lens caps - this is very interesting.

LOL Angela, I guess the worst bit is the little-admitted-to truth that sometimes we do need to state the blindingly obvious! I did have someone at the club a couple of years ago who couldn't get his Canon 300D to work. I picked it up, turned it on and it worked first time. He said 'Oh, what did you do just then?'

I said 'Nothing, I just switched it on and fired a shot off.'

'Switched on what?'.....

You can work out the rest of that conversation for yourself! It might sound ridiculous but the guy genuinely thought the onn/off button was only for viewing pictures, not for actually taking photos! I am so proud of myself for not making any sounds that betrayed what was going through my mind at the time

Ok, I am off to take some pictures. Hope they're better than the last lot, they all came out black, can't understand why.... <g>
