Lens Flare Maybe?

Well i finally saved up a bit extra and bought a compact to carry around with me. After playing with cameras at work i decided to go with the Fuji Z5FD Heres a link if you'd like to see the camera
FUJIFILM Global | Products | Digital Products

Anyway, i took it to a buddy of mines to try it out, and i got these spots showing up (they look like lens flare) and they are in a lot of the pictures that are taking place in darker areas. I cleaned the lens to see if that would help and no go, still gettting spots today. So i was just wondering if anyone knew anything to do about this. Im wondering if there is since the lens is flat with the camera. So is this lens flare and is there a solution? Thanks

Sorry for the random picture and the hand gesture in the middle guy...haha. This picture had it the best

Re: Lens Flare Maybe?

I'm no expert but I don't see any light source that's likely to have caused those and the distribution doesn't look quite right to me. You said they were in lots of shots, are they always in the same place? If so it might be dirt or grease spots left inside during manufacturing on the sensor or back of the lens where you can't clean.

Probably someone else will come along with a more sensible suggestion and I'll feel silly, but hey, it wouldn't be the first or last time!

cheers

Dan

Re: Lens Flare Maybe?

No, actually they are always in different spots and different number of them. And in pictures that there is no flash involved they arent there.

I have an out there idea that maybe since the cover slides open over the flash, there may have been some light bouncing under the cover from the flash and getting on the lens. Does that make sense?

You're idea may be right, I'm not sure, but that sounds like the best explanation for the moment. Wait for the techies to arrive to get a real verdict though

Re: Lens Flare Maybe?

My friend says those are ghosts. And she means that literally.

My thought is that it must be some sort of defect in the lens itself.

Re: Lens Flare Maybe?

Well either way, we just received Canon SD1000's in at work, so im on my way now for an exchange But thanks for your guy's help, I pretty much came to the conclusion it was flash bouncing under the cover, but if anyone else has that camera i'd like to know if they have the same problem
