All,

I recently saw some pictures of a very white interior of a building, with very distinctive glass roof, I think it was a library. I've got a day planned in November to walk London during the day and have some night stuff planned, but very keen to find out what this building was, where it is and whether it's open to the public?

Any ideas?

Are you sure its not the british Museum? 5 mins walk from New oxford street junc with Tottenham court road.

Did the glass roof have amesh to it and a round center with a stair well goin around.

That sounds like it. I recall the place being very white.

Thats it the British museum!! Tottenham court road tube down New oxford street turn left down side of Jacobs camera shop and turn right.

Muscle is 100% correct. To get that (typical shot) you need to not enter the main hall and instead go up the stairs near the entrance and from there you'll be able to capture that shot through the open window at the top.

There is also a great shot of the wording on the floor at the bottom of the stairs.

You can also take shots after dark. I visited last year in November for the Terracota Army Exhibition but spent more of my time taking photos of the museum. One of the shots after dark is below but I did not have a tripod and nor was I doing HDR then so could do a lot better now.



If you look at the brightly lit window in the shot below, that is where the earlier shot that JAG showed was taken from.
