Re: Lost Photo Mojo...

It's not really up to you at the end of the day. Your friend needs to do it themselves. Obviously, you can support them but other than that there isn't much you can do.

I go through cycles myself when I start getting stuck. Best cure I've found is to go out shooting with my buddy. His enthusiasm is infectious and even though he takes a better photo than me and is way more creatively minded I still benefit a lot from these outings.

Re: Lost Photo Mojo...

They say that to loose interest in photography is like losing interest in life! so my advice is to join a good Photographic Society who do loads of hands on and photo trips!

Re: Lost Photo Mojo...

Some great tips already said, "trips and outtings". I would ask your friend, what is it they really liked in a picture. For me it is "light and shadows", for my best friend and wife it is "grandchildren and wildlife". Supporting a person in what is intereting to them helps expand photography to other subjects. But at the end of the day, "again", if they want something else in life. Maybe a good book with photo views of the area around where you live what other photographers like about it might help.

Re: Lost Photo Mojo...

As Des suggests joining a Club provides motivation to enter competitions and attend photographics trips etc. Of course you could enter Pixalo competitions as well. Some of the more experienced photographers at my Club work to achieve national or international distinctions which allows you to add a few letters after your name. Most that go in for this do so to add motivation to their photography.

Re: Lost Photo Mojo...

At the moment I am taking very few photos. Kind of think my Mojo is on the down BUT I do know that it will come back.

All of the above advice above sounds good to me but also your friend is probably the only one who can sort it out.

Re: Lost Photo Mojo...

I found looking at others work inspired me to pick up my camera once again. The challenge of achieving something, be it set by yourself or others is usually a great motivator.

Re: Lost Photo Mojo...

Having good weather helps....

Even though you can get some good stuff in bad weather, there mere thought of getting damp has put me off today, for instance...
I have a squirrel who visits the back garden, and I wanted to try a few shots, but its been raining so hard its put an inch on the pond overnight, and aint stopped yet... setting up the camera in this just isnt my idea of "Fun"..........
