Macro and 350D
Hi Everyone,
I am thinking of buying the Canon 2.8f 100 macro to be used on my Canon 350D. Does the crop factor on my camera make the life size( 1.1) magnification 1.6 times bigger or does this mean i have more working distance from the front of the lense. I am not sure if my question makes sense or not , so i'll understand if i get no replies. Also has anyone had or used one the two Canon macro flashes, i would really like the twin macro flash, is it much much better for the extra money. Re: Macro and 350D
It's working distance essentially, but technically it is also like 'cropping' an image from a full frame dSLR on a PP program, but you shouldn't have any problems.

Re: Macro and 350D
Hi Purplepleaser
I've already done this and it's a great combination. The Canon 100mm macro doesn't change length when you focus which is great if you've got it pressed against bars or glass and of course the definition is outstanding even on a full frame. The focussing is silent and fast and has two stages depending on how close you are and the crop sensor of the 350D uses only the middle. The build quality is excellent too. It's not just a macro lens but works as a great fast aperture prime telephoto too. A couple of the pictures on my current gallery were taken with lens, Negatives? Canon don't supply a lens hood and it's quite a hefty lens. |
