Macro lens will not focus with raynox on

Ok, i cannot work out what I need to do to get good focus with my raynox lens on. Manual focussing the lens doesn't work either. Would it be a setting in the menu of the camera The raynox fits, or would it be the light condition?

Re: Macro lens will not focus with raynox on

Not sure why it won't AF and confused that it won't MF. Are you getting close enough?

Re: Macro lens will not focus with raynox on

Yes I am, but i've tried to focus on all kinds, just doesn't focus at all The AF goes wild but can't find a focus point, I don't think How close do you need to be though. I mean, I go as close as I normally do with my lens.

But could it be the light though, although it does focus without the raynox.

Maybe too dark for AF to work? But probably not close enough

Fairly sure you need to be closer - try MF to closest and then gradually move camera closer and closer

Re: Macro lens will not focus with raynox on

with raynox? dcr-250? if so - get as close as 5 cm from object. raynox is very difficult to handle on macro lenses - focusing is very difficult, DOF gets extremly small and you have to be much closer to object. when without raynox it can be 30-40 cm, with raynox it's 5-10 cm. and yes it needs good light and give it as much DOF as you can or you'll have 1mm space of sharpness .

i work with raynox dcr-250 a lot - using it on my canon 100mm f2.8 macro lens.

Ok got it now. I've just tried it in the garden and it works. It will need some practise I suppose, but definitely need enough light, which you hardly ever have in the butterfly house.

I'll use it on the fields instead.
