Austin Mitchell may be a PIA to some but he often has worthwhile beliefs/comment. Just hope it proceeds further (tho I'l not hold my breath!)

Yes interesting this slow strangulation on our freedom.

I have been watching BBC's The Last Enemy (Sunday nights) It could well prove fairly accurate what Britain may be like in 10 years time regarding CCTV, tags via personal indentity cards etc. I do like a bit of science fiction but its all becoming too close for comfort.
Meanwhile I shall continue to take pictures in public places but I am becoming rather nervous of taking pictures of my five Grandchildren when there are other kids around in sensitive locations!!.

Re: may be of interest

oooo this really gets my back up this when people try telling me what i can and can not take pictures of in public places

I did some pictures the other night (yep on my crutch's) for a restaurant and was doing the outside shot when the lady in the flat not even above the restaurant but above next door came running out and almost knocked me off my sticks demanding to know who i was and what i was doing taking pictures.

Dont know what she was so paranoid about and sheepishly went back to watch corry or eastenders after i told her it was for the restaurant and had nothing to do with her or her flat.

Its happened a few times recently in situations that make you feel like a weirdo when someone starts ranting on about taking pictures and kids close by etc, trust me i get it nearly every week at football with my eldest lad. I clearly understand that if i had my pants down with a camera in my hand outside a school or something then yes lock me up and throw away the key, but i do think we have got or getting to a point where we will have to have a license to point our lenses in the future thanks to the minority/majority of do-gooders that really dont know what they are doing at all.

steps down from box

Never used this smiley before but its for all those paper pushing politicians and nosey gits who have no idea what they are talking about when it comes to us photographers loosing our freedom, or at least getting one step closer to doing so.

I have been involved with this. I now know that the police cannot make you delete your files(digital) neither should you; these are your evidence. Keep them!...Kenny.

PS, there is NO law against taking pic's of children!.
