Re: Monitor Black Point Test

Excellent link

I'm a happy bunny here, my monitor is showing a difference at level 3 which is pretty good, not perfect but not far out.

For the mid tones, banding and colour casts, everything is spot on

How did you get on P-E as I know you have a very expensive monitor and have gone to great lengths to calibrate it correctly?

Re: Monitor Black Point Test

Level 3 is excellent

Mine is at level 4 so I need to do a little more tweaking.

There must be some excellent monitors (or very well calibrated) to notice the difference between 0-1.

OMG, I always calibrate my 19"TFT with a Spyder but I couldn't see anything until level 15.
This monitor is currently on loan while mine is being repared but its still a bit of a worry.

Did you try improving the calibration or is that simply the best it can manage?

Re: Monitor Black Point Test

Interesting test. I tried it with several Huey settings + they were all different. Best was 2,2,2, worst was 9,9,9. Surprisingly a "low contrast" setting achieved a notably better result than a "high contrast" setting

All of the settings showed a red tinge in the mid-range tones

Not sure where the improvement has come from

Downloaded the latest version of Spectraview that has so many options

I spend for toooo much time creating profiles but now have two mointors that load two separate profiles using Windows Color Applet plus I have more or less got rid of color shifts outside of PS.........even reds

Just done my monitors again and after trying different settings with Spectraview Profiler I would say the improvement has come from not using a Gamma of 2.2.

Spectraview has a few options of which Gamma to use with the recommended one being L* (whatever that is ).......I use sRGB 2.1 and set a luminance of 110 (probably could use 100).

Hi all,
Whats your grey scale look like when displaying the "Welcome to Members Gallery" grey scale steps?. I bet they look ok.
Just a point, you have to be carefull when setting the monitor black level up on a blank screen. Monitors have a nasty habit of drifting slightly depending on the screen picture content.
Regards Brian

Have a new monitor a week old, saw a change at 1. and my other at 4.
new HD cinema display and my older lcd cinema display. Can see a change at 3 on the older one if I change the profile, but I like the profile I use.
