My vehicle rig

I made my own suction-cup mounted camera boom arm so I can get those cool in-motion shots I used 5 Manfrotto super clamps, 2 B&Q double suction lifters and a length of stair rail pole. I hung the rig from the bonnet for these shots.

The Manfrotto clamps are 18 each, the suction cups are 9 each and the pole was 18 so the rig cost around 130

Re: My vehicle rig

Is the pp afterwords to remove the rig not a pain in the ass?

Have you tried using a 2nd car instead? If so what's the issues?

Me and me m8 wanna do this sort of thing, he's convinced u use a 2nd car, I'm not convinced. I can see using a 2nd car being a pain for framing where your way would be much easier. On the other hand, his idea is easier on the PP side.

Nope, there is only a small amount of the arm to remove, and as long as you have the right angle you only have to blend in a bit of sky and remove the pole reflection from the bodywork

I haven't tried panning shots with another car so can't comment, but I would imagine it's difficult to get them at the same speed, also I push the car for my shots as having the engine running creates vibration in the pole

Re: My vehicle rig

very smart, i take it your not driving on a public highway for fear of apposing traffic taking your pole out? just remember to to remove it before driving through your gates on your drive

I knew folk generally pushed the cars around but hadn't considered that this was down to vibration issues .

Cracking set of shots btw
