Need some help

I have been asked to take some random pictures at a wedding and reception. I have a 24-104 lens that I thought I would use (haven't said yes or no yet) but I was wondering how that lens would do inside. I don't use it for inside and tried it today and wasn't happy with the pictures. Alittle to red in the skin tones. My other is the 70-300 which I don't think is of any help. I just don't know what to do. I have to give them an answer soon.

Re: Need some help

I would have thought the 24-105 would cut it if you have a flash gun and maybe up the ISO. If the room is well lit you may be OK - can you try a pre-wedding recce of the venue, take a few shots etc. A few questions to ponder -

Are you the sole photographer? Which camera are you using? Do you have a backup camera/battery/memory card? What expectations do the couple have of you? Can you stretch to a f1.8 50mm lens, they are only about £60 and ideal for indoors?

Re: Need some help

I'm not the only photographer. They will have one to take the "wedding pictures". I will be taking all the other picture of what is happening all around. Just walk and take pics. I to think the lens (24-105) should work. I have tried playing with the ISO inside--I haven't played with the flash. That wasn't smart on my part I have an XTI. I thought of getting another lens, but just don't want to get one for those pictures. I'm not planning on going into the photo taking business. This offer kinda caught me off guard. I'm so new at this. I keep hearing and reading about the nifty fifty. Would that lens work? I have thought about going to the inside reception place. I don't know if that place would let me in. Heck, I won't know till I try Thanks for the insight into options.

Re: Need some help

I wish I had a friend who could loan me a lens--that would be great. I don't have any friends who take pictures --- Oh well, this way I will learn more about my camera while I play with it and see what I can do. With the 24-105 I should be able to do anything right?
