new camera query...

just got my new camera (canon 400D) - but there seems to be a rattling noise when I gently shake it... is this normal..?

With a new camera I would say not normal. Can you be any more specific as to which part of the camera rattles?

yeah, it's seems to be coming from the front where the sensor is...it still occurs when I put the lense on too...just sounds like something's loose...

it's my first dslr so I'm not sure...

Could be the mirror is a bit slack. If it was me I would take the lens off and check the mirror then maybe lock the mirror up and have a look behind. Failing that take it back for a replacement.

hi - I've just done a google and it seems to be a known issue...ho hum!

a colleague owns this camera and he'll be in the office within an hour - I'll ask him too...

It's the orientation sensor which consists of a small ball-bearing in a tube. It allows the image to be rotated automatically on the display when in portrait mode. Nothing at all to worry about.

yeah, I've just looked - I've had the flash turned on and it's part of the bracket on that - they're a tad slack...nothing to worry about at all...!
