New career in Photography

Hi, another new member (so to speak). Left the NHS to start a new career in Photography (Doc's new career in a flash said local paper

). Would like to know what a new freelance 'tog should expect from a new Event Company in terms of £££ - I thought an hourly rate + % commission on sales but what sort of rate and commission are reasonable please? TIA, Chris Ley

If you check out our Tutorials and Guides Forum, our own Gary Bagshawe has written five articles on going pro.

Also there are other posts on the subject here and there on the forums, but I can't remember where! Perhaps a search will find them.

Blimy is that what some will pay. When I saw the floods on our regional tv they where asking you to send in pics from your phone and you had to pay twice the normal text charge

Thats right, however if you send them in with all the file info filled in correctly taken on a non mobile phone camera and/or call the picture desk 1st you are much more likely to get these fees.

The link goes to page two of the Tutorials and Guides Forum. Gary's articles are spread out from the second from bottom to about the tenth one rom the top when I looked. If someone replys to a thread it will get bumped to the top of page 1 though.
