Popped in to WHSmith to buy another Photo Mag to read & was overwhelmed by the choice these days. Anyway a quick scan through content eliminated 50% of mags, but then I came across Issue 2 of "Advanced Photoshop" with 2 CDs including over 3.5hrs of tutorials.
Downside....£5.99...but then I thought hey I've wanted to go on a course for more advanced Photoshop, so in the realms of things this is cheap. Checkout bottom of http://www.paragon.co.uk/ Anyway I've only just had a quick scan & I can clearly see this is "advanced" , which is going to be challenging, but the only way to really improve. As everything is explained in detail & I'm assuming Vids will be even better, then it would be useful for anyone who can find their way around PS. Be interested to hear if anyone else has had a read & what there thoughts are. Anyway off for a read now with a . Will post my findings in the next day or 2.

Sounds good.
I'll make a point of buying it. £5.99 for a good mag and 2 vid tut cd's isn't a bad price to play. |

I'd have a look at this if it wasn't Paragon Publishing.
Used to subscribe to one of their games magazines - a magazine obviously aimed primarily at the younger generation. Was horrified when I received an issue through the post which had two entire pages of advertisements for 'adult chat lines' containing pictures of women with their legs so far apart you'd think bloody Moses had been there. Seemed pretty irresponsible, to me but they basically said "tough you can't do anything". Oh yeah I can. I can boycott your rag of a magazine. </rant> |

Cripes , after a read of some the lessons in the Mag I can see masses (eg. 80%) is done under Layers / Paths / Masks etc. Although I feel comfortable with a few layers, once I get above 5 with Paths & masks etc I start to lose my way (adjustments don't start to be taking effect etc) . Think this will force me to read up more from Martin Evening on the subject.
Although frustrating , I'm a strong believer that pointing people in the right direction & then forcing them to research some of the steps themselves, is the best form of tutoring. Ah well, nose to the grindstone ![]() |

It's a mighty powerful tool that needs nurturing and taming to bring the best from the beast. Unfortunately as with everything that is capable of so much it inevitably gets complicated and that means sitting down and learning.
As my old man use to say, you pays your money and takes you choice. Anyone know an easy way to learn German? ![]() |

![]() Serious answer, I think you're doing the one thing that most of us would say is the quickest way to learn German. Go and live there, almost forcing yourself to speak it. It's amazing how adaptable we are when we are forced to. |

Only just got around to watching some of the video tutorials with this mag. How much easier & quicker to learn this way than read through a book. Some really excellent techniques...... I won't go into how often mid grey is used in layers due to PS seeing it as transparent in some of the blending modes (eg. hard light).
