New Monitor

I am thinking about replacing my elderly CRT monitor. I have heard that TFT monitors can be a bit of a no-no for photographic manipulation. I presume that loads of people here must use one due to the lack of availability of CRT ones.

I would be interested to hear how people get on with them.

Thanks

Re: New Monitor

Hi Chris.....I did this very short review a while back. Even further down the line I would add you won't regret buying LCD. There are some purists who say that the colour rendition on a CRT is superior but the difference, if any to me, is unnoticable. The added bonuses are the saving on space on you PC station and if you go for a widescreen it's superb for editing. You can keep your toolbars and palettes to the sides and not overlaying your image. Way to go.

Re: New Monitor

The wide format is partly the reason for going for one. As you say the tools and palattes tend to overlap the image you are trying to edit.

Re: New Monitor

I bought a OcUK Value Hanns-G HW191D 19" Widescreen LCD Monitor a few weeks ago when it was about £107, great monitor, especially for the price, and I'm very pleased with it.

Re: New Monitor

I have a 20" NEC Spectraview which isn't cheap but is a stunning LCD to work on.

I also use overclockers for PC components, there not the cheapest but all their gear is quality! (keep an eye out for their special offers)

I use a 20" Dell LCD and I just can't fault it, LCD technology has realy improved in the last couple of years. The blacks are very very good which used to be a problem with the older LCDs.
