Just wondered if anybody else was duped by Nikon and their cash-back offer. Had it not been for that offer I would have gone for the Cannon instead.

Re: Nikon

Do you mean the time it has taken to get the cashback?

Re: Nikon

I guess that depends on what you mean by being duped. That you have said you would have bought the Canon were it not for the Nikon offer leads me to believe that in some way you don't like the Nikon.

I'm not sure that a cashback offer (that most camera makers - including Canon - do from time to time) is in itself a reason to buy a camera. Once the research and camera handling has been done, cashback could be a bonus, or a reason to wait for the offer to come around.

I've seen more than one comparison test between the Canon 400D and the Nikon D40 that could not separate then in terms of quality and general usage, so if you are not satisfied with the pictures that you are getting, how do you know that the Canon would give you anything better?

If you are not happy with the selection of lenses that are available for the D40, this falls into the research side of things, and is common knowledge in the photographic community. Although when it was first released there were not many lenses that would work with the D40, the number of lenses that will work with this camera is being expanded by not only Nikon, but by Tamron and Sigma too, and now there is a reasonable selection available.
