Re: Nikon D3 offical Sample Images @ High ISO
Great at 6400. Looks like my D50 at 1600 but with less chroma noise., so that's a start. The details from the swan downwards are just insane! Fantastic. Think they've got a winner here....

Re: Nikon D3 offical Sample Images @ High ISO
The samples look great for sure; it looks like I'll be able to go to gig shoots in the future and not worry at all about what the lighting is like. Take a look at this shot of Pharrell Williams to see the sort of thing I'm talking about
That's one of quite a few situations when nice, clean ISO6400 would have been useful ![]() The other thing I'm looking forward to is crazy/obscene hand-held shooting at night using my f/1.4 lenses - particularly the 28mm. |

Re: Nikon D3 offical Sample Images @ High ISO
Steven,
For the less than the price of the D3, you could get a D300 and the 70-200VR lens... this would allow you to shoot far cleaner ISO3200 shots than the D80, and the new lens would afford you an extra stop of sensitivity over your Tamron telezoom. |

Re: Nikon D3 offical Sample Images @ High ISO
that would be amazing, but unfortunately i am still paying off my D80, slowly but surely. As this event wasn't my normal area, i wouldn't pay that much for a lens i'm not going to use that often. my next investment will have to be wide/fish-eye or 50mm prime.
